Branding is all around you. At home, on the street, in stores, and on vacation. Every brand does its utmost to ensure you buy their product. So, when you're trying to sell a service or product as an online marketer, you need to use branding to stand out.

In the jungle of blogs, vlogs, Instagram posts, and all other social media platforms, it's all about standing out from the crowd. Stay true to yourself and communicate consistently across all your social media channels. Also, ensure your style, color, and fonts are consistent across all platforms, as much as possible. This will ensure visitors recognize you, regardless of which platform they're using. Initially, Nike also had to include its brand name with the swoosh, but over time, this became unnecessary because the logo was sufficient for brand recognition.

What is branding?

The definition of branding is:

"Branding is the process of creating and managing a unique identity for a company, product, or service, with the aim of gaining a strong position in the marketplace and leaving a lasting impression on the target audience ."

It goes beyond just a name and logo; it encompasses the entire perception and experience a customer has with the brand. The brand, in this case, is your personal branding or that of the product you sell.

What does branding include?

There's more to it than that, but establishing a consistent online identity across all social media platforms you use to promote yourself or your brand involves the following:

  • Name and logo: The basis of the visual identity.

  • Visual identity: Color palettes, typography, image style, etc.

  • Tone of voice: The way the brand communicates.

  • Customer experience: The entire interaction a customer has with the brand.

  • Brand Story: The unique and recognizable identity of the brand.

Why is branding important?

  • Distinctiveness: Branding helps you stand out from competitors.

  • Customer Loyalty: A strong brand identity can lead to customer loyalty and repeat purchases.

  • Trust and Credibility: Consistent branding strengthens brand trust.

  • Emotional connection: Branding can create an emotional bond between the brand and the customer.

  • Value creation: Branding can increase the value of a company.

If you want to sell products as an online marketer, you need to work on the pillars of soft sales:

  • like: customers must like your brand or yourself

  • know : customers get to know you by interacting with your brand

  • trust : customers will trust you because you provide value with your messages, videos or product

Why do you always buy sneakers from the same brand, for example? Because you know from past experience that they're comfortable, the service is good, and they suit your style (which is also a form of personal branding!).
